Marchesi Antinori Dinner

Marchesi Antinori Dinner
New York, NY 10020
In preparation for May’s Viva Italia auction, we are thrilled to present this fantastic event welcoming one of Italy’s most important winemakers, Alessia Antinori of Marchesi Antinori.
You cannot talk about Italian wines without mentioning Antinori wines. The Antinori family has been committed to the art of winemaking since 1385 and throughout twenty-six generations.
Today Marchesi Antinori is the combination of different estates, mainly in Tuscany and Umbria, located in wine-growing areas that are particularly suited to the production of high quality wines from Bolgheri to Montepulciano, from Maremma to Montalcino and throughout Chianti Classico, the territory of choice of the Antinori family.
Each estate is completely independent with its own well-defined identity, vineyards, cellar and dedicated staff. Everything is managed with an artisanal approach aimed at achieving the highest quality and attention to detail. Each wine is an ambassador of the land where it is produced, expressing the authenticity of its territory of origin and able to represent the soul of the producer. In order to achieve this, the commitment to developing a specific local viticulture on each estate is fundamental. This is, in fact, the only way to establish and nurture a strong feeling with the territory and, consequently, achieve the highest quality of the wines; a quality that has always been the company’s most important asset.
Matarocchio is crafted exclusively from the best Cabernet Franc berries that come from a small, prized vineyard parcel on the Tenuta Guado al Tasso estate. This wine represents the finest expression of Bolgheri’s terroir with great character and finesse and is only produced in exceptional vintages. Guado al Tasso is a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc and occasionally a small percentage of Petit Verdot that best represents the elegance, complexity, and structure of Bolgheri’s terroir. It has been produced since 1990 from vineyards on alluvial soils whose composition ranges from clay-sand to clay-loam with very fine gravel known as “scheletro”.
