Here too there is discreet wood serving as a backdrop to the notably ripe cassis, black cherry and distinct floral elements. There is good energy and punch to the medium-bodied flavors that possess excellent depth and concentration while displaying a very firm, detailed and irreproachably well-balanced finish. The basic personality is on the restrained side with plenty of classic Gevrey character and while the Combottes is a lovely wine, there is just another dimension present here. - BH

If every example of Charmes-Chambertin in 2010 was as stunning as the Domaine Dujac bottling, this grand cru would no longer suffer under the rubric as one of the “second division” grand crus in the Côte de Nuits. The 2010 Dujac Charmes is a beautiful wine in the making, offering up a superb nose of red and black cherries, blood orange, coffee, gamebirds, woodsmoke, vanillin oak and a simply beautiful base of soil. On the palate the wine is deep, full-bodied, pure and very soil-driven, with a sappy core of fruit, great focus and balance, suave tannins and outstanding length and grip on the perfectly poised finish.
